Try On This Hat For Size, Mom!

Ha! I saw this tv ad and thought, "Thats me! And every other mother I know!" LOL
Now I don't know about Staples making it easy, but I do know they nailed this commercial.
IT Specialist, household accountant, baker, and teen mom ("Oh, she quit." HILARIOUS!) sounds about right.  That is maybe half of the roles of a typical Tuesday for me.
They so left out wardrobe stylist, hair stylist, nurse, plumber, attorney, dancer, taxi driver, coach, nutritionist, teacher, professional cleaning service lead, and entertainer.  I'm sure there are more.

I think its time for the babies to go buy me a gift.

Go Girls Go!

I have been trying to figure out exactly how I can get these sweet babies to do the very few important little-person responsibilities that I've given them.  They are willing, it seems.. Even a bit excited, when I tell them, "Chloe, dont forget your chore.." or "Vaani, did u wash your WHOLE body?" They quickly respond, "YES!" But of course, I go back to find that is NOT the case. I repeat- NOT DONE. Why?! Because they want to color.  Play on the computer.  Watch Nick Jr.  Dance. Everything that I did not ask them to do!  So something had to be done.

For a while now, I have been scanning over chore charts.  I googled it and OMG there are so many!  But after plenty of thought, I decided it would probably be easier to explain how it works and the point of it all if we made one together ourselves!  Plus I liked the idea of making it reusable, not having to be printed every week or month.  So we did.. And it worked out beautifully because each of our personalities came out in the project.. Im sure you can see that in the finished product:

And the incentive of course:

We discussed the rules-- Do your chores, Monday through Friday. (But still wash your body even on the weekends. LOL)  Every week we will count up the number of stars you have.  You are allowed 3 passes- in case you forget, or just having a hard-headed day. At the end of the week, if you EACH have at least 12 of your 15 stars, you get the motivating prize for the week during that weekend.  The prize changes every week.  Mommy and Daddy have control of the prizes. We choose em. We divvy em up.  Work together to help each other, because remember, you BOTH have to have the stars for the week!

So of course, we had fun making it, and talking about it, but I needed a little "contractual agreement" from my babygirls that they would stick with it.  You have to put in the work in order to gain the incentive!

Here was my proof that they understood the conditions.

Ignore the forehead stickers. They had too much fun. Well, is there a such thing??

First Post: Im A Mommy. And I Blog.

So in my journey, I have been really internally observant.  Getting to know who I am right now, since we are ever changing beings.  One thing that I have found is that while I enjoy journaling much more than I do blogging, I do feel quite a release when I throw simple stories online!  I love my twitter, I like networking and communicating with friends on facebook, I enjoy talking on blog talk radio, and I dig the way there is no pressure.  I tweet when I want, I blog when I want, and I take hiatuses from it all when I feel like it.  When I started my main blog, Love Is The Light (which is still in use, btw), I figured, I would talk about all of my interests.  So there was no specific "special place" for my love of good food, love of good music, love of good art, and of course MOMMY STUFF.  It was all in one pot of LOVE.  Recently though, I realize, these babies take up a major space in my life- which I give happily and willingly.

With that said, Mommy now needs room to talk about only that.  As you can see even above, and of course if u follow me on twitter, fb, or my other blog, you know that these girls are HILARIOUS! And they shock me everyday with their understanding levels, their perspectives, their eagerness, and innocence.  I have embraced the fact that I am a Mommy of little brown girls, who happens to enjoy blogging... Which doesnt necessarily make me a "mommy blogger" right?  Well either way, read it if u like, dont if u dont want to- but here I have created a little outlet for my Yo Gabba Gabba filled, Aspergers stuff, kindergarten woes, revolution that wont be televised teaching, healthy school lunch packing, "who taught u that phrase", kinky and curly black girl hair combin, tap-ballet class costs what?,  where to find the deals on clothes, shoes, ribbons... ALL OF THAT. Everything from dawn till dusk and back.  The "I wanna wear my pink cowboy boots and pajama pants to the store stories of my Mommy triumphs and failures.  WHEW! U see how bad I need this?! Why did I wait so long?

By the way, how do yall like the design?? I totally dig it, felt almost orgasmic when I finished!
